Bass Muscles

Here is the section of my site where I share some of the bass exercises I  often use. I do not explain the theory behind those exercises because it is very easy to find youtube videos where bass teachers explain the theory better than me.

The posts can be found under the category “bass muscles”. All the videos are in my youtube channel and instagram account.

For the tabs I use TuxGuitar which is an open source tab editor. It is FREE and does a reasonably good job to create and edit the exercises.  The downloadable link of each tab file is shared in the post with the video.

Some important general advices:

  1. Start SLOW. Your brain, arms and hands need time to process the new information (exercise). So start the exercise slow to get comfortable with what you are doing.
  2. Speed up ONLY when you feel comfortable with what you are doing. If you start to speed up and you are not able to perform the exercise properly because there are some “wrong notes”, “bumps” or “ghost notes” then you are not evolving.
  3. If you feel any pain, STOP. There is no such thing as “no pain, no gain” with those exercises. Pain is bad. Relax, and only return when you can play again without pain. Some of the exercises are very hard and slow development is a must.
  4. Do some stretch exercises if possible before (here are some).
  5. Work with a metronome if possible.

Music is more than only muscles, so listen and play everything with different musicians.
